Courage

2. We have been reading Anne Sexton's poem, "Courage" and Rudyard Kipling's poem "If". Both poems deal with the theme of courage. Which poem appeals most to you and explain why. Consider what the poet says and how each poet expresses his/her viewpoint.

I think the poem "Courage" appeals to me the most because she had a lot of courage even though she went through so many hardships in her life. She's explaining how the older you get the more wiser you get and the more courage you tend to have. If you've been bullied as a child or been abused you can always be healed by someone just coming over to help you, one little thing can mean a whole lot more to another person and can get them through life. And if you live life the way you want and help others then when you are ready for death and it will be as informal as just chilling at home.

I do agree because I think everyone should just aim to be a regular human being and if some spectacular oppurtunity comes around for you to be a hero or anything you can take advantage of that. I enjoy the line that says "Or being lied about, don't deal in lies" because the poets saying even though people may make up rumors about you but if you don't have any part of that then you will be above them. His words are very useful to people these days because humans tend to have a less tendacy to be nice and humane to eachother as the years go by so if we all read this poem and listen we might become a better society and eventually a better world.

My Left Foot

People with disabilities have to face many more obstacles in life than a regular person. They don't have as many freedoms for sports and extracurricular activities. They often are bullied by other rude and disrespectful people and they can't get around as quickly. People with disabilities have to work just that much harder to get something done or get somewhere, even if it may be just going to the washroom! It takes a lot of work so be thankful for what you have in life.
